GQ’S ‘EMANCIPATORS OF THE YEAR’ ARE ‘DJANGO UNCHAINED’ MEN, SAMUEL JACKSON, FOX, TARANTINO, AND WALTZ

The men of Django Unchained, Samuel L. Jackson, director Quentin Tarantino, Jamie Foxx, and Christoph Waltz made the GQ 2012 list as the ‘Emancipators of the year.’ why?
According to Jamie Foxx—and despite what you may have heard so far—Quentin Tarantino’s latest genre mash-up, the spaghetti-Western- slash-blaxploitation-saga Django Unchained, is a love story, not a revenge fantasy. Foxx, who plays a freed slave on a violent odyssey through the antebellum South to find his unemancipated wife, lowers his voice to a guttural whisper to imitate Tarantino’s constant reminders of his motivation: “You want your woman!” His partner in the journey is Inglourious Basterds Oscar winner Christoph Waltz—the duo head up a loaded cast that also includes Samuel L. Jackson, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Don Johnson as vintage QT villains—and just as he did in Basterds, Waltz brings to the movie a kind of silky Continental braininess. But he may have missed the memo on the love-story bit. “Quentin’s movies are grand cinematic opera,” says Waltz. “Slavery in this case would be the great dilemma, and the great dilemma of the hero is: To avenge or not to avenge?” This is a Tarantino flick, so take a wild guess.
Django Unchained hits theater on December 25.

R. Kelly takes ‘Trapped in the Closet’ to Broadway

R. Kelly takes ‘Trapped in the Closet’ to Broadway R&B star R Kelly has announced that he hopes to adapt his cult ‘hip-hopera’ Trapped in the Closet for the stage. Launching the newest instalment of the sung-through soap opera – an increasingly improbable tale triggered by an adulterous one-night stand – the singer-songwriter said that he had received an offer to take it to Broadway, and might even star in it himself.
“To transform it into a Broadway version, that’s what I’m working on,” said the 45-year-old, real name Robert Sylvester Kelly. Although he gave little away, a spokesperson for the singer told the New York Times that a stage version is “a very real possibility we are exploring”.
Trapped in the Closet started life as part of Kelly’s album TP.3 Reloaded, but a filmed version of 12 episodes was released on DVD in 2005, with a further 10 episodes released two years later. The series follows Sylvester, played by Kelly, through a series of sexual misdemeanours that spin out of his control, after he’s forced to hide in the eponymous closet when a lover’s husband unexpectedly returns home.
At the launch on 19 November, Kelly announced that he has written a further 85 episodes, the next batch of which will premiere on the American television channel IFC. “The chapters that are coming – the show, we call it – is going to exceed every chapter that you have ever seen,” he said.
That is quite a claim: previous episodes have involved a pimp with a severe stutter, an asthmatic midget and an awful lot of hiding in cupboards. Each chapter ends with a cliffhanger.
“I’m just having a lot of fun,” Kelly continued. “I don’t have a job, so I sit in the studio all day and think of stuff to do and this is just something stupid I’ve done that’s been successful for me.”

PHOTO: Road Built Around Chinese Couple's House Who Refused To Relocate

Luo Baogen and his wife insist on living in the half-demolished building in the city of Wenling, in Zhejiang province, China because they believe that the relocation compensation offered by the government is not enough.

Now the only building left standing, the five storey block is a strange sight as cars drive around it while the couple remain living inside.

To ensure the couple’s safety, adjacent rooms in the building have been left intact but all their neighbours have moved out.

Earlier this year, Hong Chunqin, 75, and her husband Kung, who live in the two dilapidated buildings with their two sons, had initially agreed to sell the property in Taizhou, in Zhejiang province and accepted £8,000 in compensation. But then she changed her mind and refunded the money once work on the road had started.

Lil Wayne To Retire From Rap After “The Carter V”

Lil Wayne
Lil Wayne’s upcoming album “Tha Carter V” will be his last before retiring from the music biz .Lil Wayne’s only got two albums left before he turns in his keys. The release of the highly-anticipated I Am Not A Human Being II is scheduled for February 19th, after which he will release The Carter V, and retire. Wayne states that as his interest grows in otherdomains, his passion for the recording studio has dwindled.
“I know y’all want me around for a little bit, [but] Tha Carter V is my last album,” he told MTV. “I’ve been rapping since I was 8 years old; I’m 30 now. That’s a long time, and I like to do so many more things, and when I like to do something, I end up loving to do it real quick. And I love to do something, I’m fully focused on it and it only, and music sometimes is not that ‘it.’”
No word on whether he will tour to promote the album following its release date. What do you think? Will he end up producing, or make a “comeback” in a couple years, as a lot of artists have done? Anything to do with the seizures?

21-year-old appointed as club manager based on Computer Game (Football Manager) experience

An unknown youngster has beaten off competition from former European Player of the Year Jean-Pierre Papin to be named the new manager of Azerbaijani club Baku FC – based on his experience of playing the computer game Football Manager.
Vugar Guloglan oglu Huseynzade, aged just 21, was confirmed as manager of ambitious Azerbaijan club, Baku FC on Wednesday, following the sacking of former Olympiacos defender Bozdar Bandovic.
Huseynzade, who has been a behind-the-scenes advisor since February, fought off competition from former France striker Jean-Pierre Papin – a man who has previous managerial experience with Strasbourg, Lens and Chateauroux.
The young man has now understandably shot to fame, but the size of the challenge does not faze him.
Speaking to a Swedish newspaper after the news broke of his appointment, Huseynzade explained that while he has never held a real managerial position, he has 10 years’ worth of experience to call upon from the computer simulation Football Manager.
‘I’ve always wanted to work in football and have played Football Manager since 2002,’ said Huseynzade.
The passionate prospect has already set out his aims for the future, with the goal to get Baku into the Europa League within three years.
A realistic challenge perhaps, but Baku are currently in the relegation zone in the Azerbaijani Premier League, and have it all to do to avoid relegation.

Pregnant woman bags jail term for dumping day old baby in latrine

pregnant-woman1
The cry of a baby into a family ought to stir some joy and immeasurable happiness but the reverse was the case when a 25-year-old woman, Ms Toyin Akinbobola, dumped her day-old baby inside a pit toilet at Idanre, Ondo State.
DailyPost learnt nemesis caught up with Toyin, when the cry of the innocent baby attracted a young boy who wanted to use the toilet moments she had carried out the criminal act. Shocked by his discovery, the boy called the attention of other neighbours to help save the baby’s life.
Immediately, some of the residents dashed off and made a formal report to the Olofin Police Station.
On the arrival of the police, the baby which has been covered with excreta and maggots was removed from the stench and rushed to Idanre General Hospital from where she was later referred to the Mother and Child Hospital in Akure for a comprehensive medical treatment.
Painfully, although the baby’s life was saved, medical reports indicated that one of her ears and left eye has been damaged by the maggots.
However, acting on the directives of Ondo State Ministry of Women Affairs, the poor baby has been taken to the Motherless babies’ home on Akure-Oba-Ile Road.
Meanwhile, all efforts to apprehend the perpetrator of the evil act proved abortive, as she had fled the town.
Nemesis finally caught up with Akinbobola at Omifun village where her mother had a farm, thus she was arrested.
She was later arraigned on a three-count charge, contrary to Section 324 of the Criminal Code Cap 30 Laws of Ondo State, 1978.
According to remorseful Akinbobola, who claimed she is pregnant again, one of her mother’s labourers on the farm was responsible for the pregnancy.
Consequently, the magistrate, Mrs. Folashade Aduroja found the accused guilty as charged and thereby sentenced to two and a half years imprisonment, adding that her case would serve as deterrent to others.
She will serve her term at Olokuta Prisons, Akure

Armed security men prevent journalists from covering Jombo-Ofo, Bulkachuwa’s swearing in

Zainab Kuchi
Journalists were on Friday barred from covering the swearing in of the acting President and a Justice of the Court of Appeal, Justices Zainab Bulkachuwa and Ifeoma Jombo-Ofo respectively.
The event, which took place in one of the chambers of the Supreme Court in Abuja, saw journalists struggling to carry out their lawful duty but were prevented from doing so by armed security men.
Some of the journalists told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that such an event deserved full coverage by the media.
Others said the event should have been held in the auditorium rather than in a chamber that could barely contain 20 people.
NAN, however, caught up with Bulkachuwa and Jombo-Ofo shortly after the ceremony.
Bulkachuwa expressed happiness for attaining such an enviable position in a male-dominated society.
She promised to assess plans on ground in order come up with workable strategies that would take the judiciary to a higher level.
“I feel happy, I feel elated, but I also thank God for bringing me to this stage.
“I have to see what is on ground and then make my plans,” she said.
On her part, Jombo-Ofo expressed satisfaction that the law had taken its course.
She promised to put in her best to disappoint her detractors.
She called on women not to be deterred by any opposition in their quest for a fulfilling career.
“I feel great, I feel fulfilled. The law has taken the course that God really wanted it to take.
“Every woman should have an ambition and aspire to get there with hard work.
“I will do my best, I know it’s a challenge, but I’m going to face it,” she said.
Jombo-Ofo was recently prevented from being sworn in with 11 other justices following petitions questioning her elevation on account of her state of origin.
She hails from Anambra but transferred her service to Abia, her husband’s state of origin, and has served there for many years.
